Salut~ Je parle français; j'aimerais parler français!Shetland tends to be somewhat cold and/or distant at times. He's been through a lot of shit, which is why he's this way. He doesn't enjoy making friends or getting too close to people, with very few exceptions. He also enjoys being alone, due in part to his isolation from mainland Scotland. Reading is a favourite past time of his, as most of the time he has nothing to do other than fish, farm and play with his dogs and ponies. Shet, as I like to call him, doesn't enjoy admitting he has ponies. He's very proud of his dogs though, and his very own culture and language, Shetlandic. He has a strange sort of accent, which is a mixture of Norwegian and Scottish accents, and reading what he says can be difficult at times. He can speak old versions of Nordic languages (Norn, Norse, etc.), the Scottish languages, English, and his own Shetlandic pretty well, but has trouble with them all. Shetland holds grudges for a pretty long time and tends not to forgive and forget. He hides emotions, and is often seen with a blank or uncaring face.
What caused this, of him, you ask? Well, as I said, he's had tough times, especially the war between Scotland and Norway's Vikings over the Shetland, Hebrides, and Orkney Isles. This scarred him very severely emotionally.

(I'd just like to point out that, even though I know I'm not popular and amazing, there are other versions of Shet you can request-- You can request Nyo!Shet, for example, or any version of him throughout time (i.e Medieval!Shet, Viking!Shet, etc.) I should probably draw versions of these, so I can make you aware of what's available, but yeah. You can give me ideas in the comments, if you want? That would be helpful. The only really set in stone version of Shet I have right now is Nyo!Shet.)

He didn't look very amused and he certainly looked like he disliked children as he grimaced a little at the sight of the bouncing baby girl. He simply wasn't good with kids-- although, if they didn't bother him, he didn't mind them. He started with a bit of unhappy surprise, "Who is dis, den?"

Smirking now at his exasperation she came over closer. Moving kila's blanket so he could see her better she looked at him. "This would be your niece, Alexander meet kila ~ She is almost 3 weeks old, so still new. An you are going to hold her." She smirked slightly, she had got her brother in law to dance with her at her wedding. She most certainly get him to hold his niece at least once.

He was speechless; the only sound he uttered was "Oh" as he reluctantly took Kila from Eve's arms, because he was sure she would make him do so anyway. Holding her as carefully as possible, he took one of his niece's little hands and examined it as if she were a fragile piece of art. Other than to hold her, he had no idea what to do and looked at Eve helplessly.
